Velo City Riders Racing Team (VCRRT) is a competitive amateur cycling team based in Maryland, built on the core values of discipline, inclusion, and athlete development. Our mission is to identify and cultivate talent across all major cycling disciplines—including road racing, criteriums, time trials, gravel, cyclocross, mountain biking, and track—while fostering a vibrant team culture that reflects the communities we represent.

Marc Perks — VCRR Racer

Marc Perks is a 39-year-old multi-discipline racer for VCRR, competing in road, gravel, MTB, and cyclocross. He discovered cycling during the COVID pandemic and quickly found himself drawn deeper into the sport through challenging group rides, structured training, and the science behind performance. What began as a way to stay active quickly turned into a passion for racing and continuous improvement.

After lining up for his first race, Marc knew he had found his sport. Beyond competing, he is passionate about building a strong racing community. Starting a team with close friends had always been a goal, and he is proud to be part of building VCRR and helping grow a culture of support, development, and competitive racing.

We aim to establish a strong foundation by assembling a committed roster of Category 2 through 4 racers, securing early-stage sponsorships and implementing systems that support both athletic performance and operational efficiency. Our long-term vision is to become a respected force in American road racing and a launchpad for emerging talent.
